ABT petition government for clarity on beauty salon openings

Following last Tuesday's (23rd June) announcement by Prime Minister Boris Johnson that beauty salons, nail bars and wellness facilities must remain closed due to the COVID-19 lockdown, ABT has written to the government to petition for clarity on the roadmap for opening our industry.

An Open Letter has been sent to Boris Johnson MP, Alok Sharma MP, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, and Oliver Dowden CBE MP, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, by ABT's Director, Dave Horton.

Industry organisation ABT represent 18,000 beauty, nail, skincare and wellness professionals.

In the letter, Mr Horton explains how the beauty, nail, skincare and wellness professions operate long-established hygiene standards, with a proven track record in providing services within a safe environment whilst using speciality PPE and sanitisation products where required.

He also highlights the importance of such businesses on the local economy and the health and wellbeing of communities.

Mr Horton concludes by urging the government to reconsider its decision to prevent beauty, nails and wellness businesses from opening on 4th July in line with hairdressing salons and barbers.
