Amazon are opening their first UK hair salon, located in London's Spitalfields.

Set over two floors, Amazon Salon will not only offer professional hair care and styling treatments, but also incorporate the experience with the technology including augmented reality (AR) hair consultations.

Elena Lavagni, owner of independent London salon Neville Hair & Beauty, will lead Amazon Salon's hair services.

A full treatment menu will be offered including cut and blow dry, highlights, balayage, texturising and braids. Clients will be able to trial a new hair colour thanks to AR technology before committing, and invited to use point-and-learn technology to discover retail items which they can purchase direct from the Amazon website, following the launch of the Amazon Professional Beauty Store on Amazon.co.uk.

In a statement on the Amazon blog, Elena Lavagni said:

“I am delighted to be part of this project – the salon combines classic hairdressing services with technology to deliver a completely unique experience for clients. Our creative team of stylists, whose flair for hair is as intrinsic as their love for technology, will put the client at the heart of everything they do. I feel proud to use our 40 years' experience in the industry to help bring this salon to life.”

John Boumphrey, Amazon's UK Country Manager, added:
“We have designed this salon for customers to come and experience some of the best technology, hair care products and stylists in the industry. We want this unique venue to bring us one step closer to customers, and it will be a place where we can collaborate with the industry and test new technologies.”

The Amazon Salon will initially open to Amazon employees, before bookings from the public are taken in the coming weeks. Amazon say there are no current plans to open other Amazon salon locations.
