Balens' CPD event to focus on mental health & wellbeing


ABT's partners and brokers Balens are hosting their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Event tomorrow (20th May 2021), with a focus on mental health.

Postponed from 2020, Balens 8th CPD Conference will take place online and its themes of mental health and wellbeing aims to help therapists understand what you need to look out for in your own clients, how you may be able to help and when you need to refer on.

Balens logoSpeakers include Dr Michael Dixon who will be talking on ‘Mental Health - a case for integration: why, what and how this may work in practice'. Dr Dixon will discuss current approaches in mental health and why an integrated approach is necessary.

Dr Rosy Daniel will be ‘Mapping the Mental Health Territory', explaining the key symptoms and range of needs people have in body, mind and spirit when experiencing them.

Hannah Volpe will address ‘The Legal Bit: Vulnerable Patients, Consent and Psychiatric Injuries', and will include examples of cases involving claims for psychiatric injury.

In addition, Helen Wadley, CEO of Mind Birmingham will look at ‘Current trends in mental health provision - where do Natural Health and Well-Being Professionals fit into the scene now and going forward?'. Helen aims to give a flavour of current trends in mental health and wellbeing as seen through the experience of a large local mental health charity. 

Concluding with a Q&A session, the event will run from 9.30am to 5pm to include six hours' learning with others – Certificates of Attendance will be available upon request.
