Self-employed grant scheme extended over lockdown
Self-employed professionals in the beauty and hair sector forced to close or affected thereafter by COVID-19 regulations may benefit from the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme Grant Extension, announced by Chancellor Rishi Sunak.
The scheme provides two grants, each available for three month periods covering November 2020 to January 2021 and February 2021 to April 2021. From the month of November when businesses are forced to close, the grant will cover 80% of a business' trading profits.
The level of grant for the months of February 2021 to April 202 will be reviewed and set in due course.
To qualify for the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme Grant Extension, you should:
- have been previously eligible for the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme first and second grant (although they do not have to have claimed the previous grants)
- declare that you intend to continue to trade and either:
- are currently actively trading but are impacted by reduced demand due to coronavirus
- were previously trading but are temporarily unable to do so due to coronavirus
The Self-Employment Income Support Scheme Grant Extension is not available to self-employed people who are company directors of limited companies, but is available to sole traders and freelancers.
